Hi and welcome to my website!
I am a freelance dressage trainer based near Oxford.
I specialise in helping young people and young horses but happily train a variety of people and horses of all ages!
I also train riders with disabilities, and am the local pony club's dressage trainer.
I have had great success with my training having trained riders at the BD Championships, Para-Championships, PC Championships and also eventers at 4* level and FEI pony trials. All my riders young or old make me proud (most of the time!) and I enjoy giving as much support as I am able.
Dressage became my passion in 2000 when owning an amazing but naughty young horse who although being bred to show jump, won all her first dressage tests. This gave me enormous pleasure as she had been the nappiest madam ever and could canter backwards round the school!! I went on to compete her in dressage to Intermediare 1 winning two national finals. I have been placed at all levels up to Prix St Georges at the championships and thoroughly enjoy training the horses from scratch and taking them as far as they are willing to go.
I have had lots of help and training from Waveney Luke who has supported me forever! Brilliant extra help over the years as come from Carl Hester, Henriette Anderson and Henk von Bergen. I currently train with Dan Greenwood.
In my past I came through the pony club competing in all three area open disciplines before becoming a working pupil with Rachel Hunt, an international eventer. I competed at intermediate level eventing, have ridden round some hairy open team chase courses and have show jumped at foxhunter level.
I achieved a first class honours degree in equine science at Oxford Brookes University and this helps me in my understanding of the biomechanics of the horse during training, as well as the mental state!
Other than travelling to you for training, I can also:
- School your horse
- Take your horse in for periodic schooling
- Create exercises to help with specific problems
- Detail a future schooling plan
- Help with fitness of horse and rider and nutrition for the horse
- Discuss and recomend bits and tack
- Work the horse from the ground
- Discuss optimal warm up programmes for competitions
- Work with difficult horses/riders needing lateral thinking!
